Speed Limit Neutrality

Dear Mr. Ajit Pai,

We regret to inform you that your new furniture delivery will be delayed by two weeks.

You purchased next day delivery, so please be assured that we have put our fastest truck and most competent moving crew on your order. Unfortunately, we do very little business with your county, and the owner of your county and residential roads has set our speed limit at 0.1 MPH. As such, we have had an unavoidable delay and cannot deliver your new furniture right away.

We cannot afford bulk pricing for a speed limit increase with your county. If your county offers you the option, you could pay for a temporary speed limit increase for our truck, and your furniture would arrive more quickly.

Without speed limit neutrality, your road signs would look like this:

Speed limit sign with speed limit of 0.1 MPH except for FedEx and UPS which have a 60 MPH speed limit, DHL which has a 40 MPH speed limit, Amazon which has a 70 MPH speed limit, WalMart which has a 30 MPH speed limit, and membership packages for various speed limits. Disclaimer: exceptions may apply, see road owner/manager across town for details.

With speed limit neutrality, your road signs look like this:

Speed limit sign with limit of 35 MPH

Which would YOU rather have?

See net neutrality.
